[34039] "The Perry County Times [New Bloomfield, PA], 10 November 1938," p. 4: "Foster Dimm Sheaffer died at his home near Newport, Tuesday morning, November 8, 1938, after being ill about one year. He was 65 years old. Mr. Sheaffer was a son of Cornelius and Sarah Beaver Sheaffer and was born in Juniata township. Surviving, besides his wife, Susan Grubb Sheaffer, is a brother, Charles, of Newport, R. D.; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Houdeshell, Steelton, and Mrs. David Neely, Newport; four sons, Porter, of New Bloomfield; William, of New Bloomfield; Norman, of Mifflin; Robert, Manheim; two daughters, Elsie Sheaffer, at home; Mrs. G. W. Thebes, of New Bloomfield. The deceased was an insurance salesman and a school director in his township for many years. He was a member of the Markelsville Reformed Church. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home. The Rev. D. L. Rhoads, New Bloomfield Lutheran Church, officiated. Burial was made in the Newport cemetery."
