[48906] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, ME], 16 August 2021": "Blue Hill - Diana Jane Patten passed away Aug. 7, 2021, with her family by her side. She was born Dec. 12, 1944, in Castine to Edward Cecil Owen and Katherine Saunders Owen and lived her entire life on the Blue Hill Peninsula. Throughout Janes life she worked taking care of others. Whether it was in a nursing home helping elderly as a CNA, cooking lunch for children at Blue Hill Consolidated School or in daycare facilities in the community, she was always happiest at work. She finished out her career at Cubby Hole Daycare, where she worked with her special friend Carrie Clifford for nearly 20 years. In this time, she helped to raise countless children from the area, all of whom lovingly called her Miss Jane and will remember her fondly. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was an active participant in the lives of her children and grandchildren, going to school concerts and activities whenever she could, doting on each and every one of them. It seemed like there was never a time when she didnt have a grandchild or great-grandchild in her company. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Judy Danico, brothers Robert Owen and Kevin Burgess, and by three of her children, Barry, Dale and Susan. She leaves behind her partner of 33 years, Stacy Emerton, sisters Donna Carter (Kendall) and Freda Reynolds (Larry), daughter Kelly Fernandez, son Marvin Patten, grandchildren, Christopher Fernandez (Jessica), Samantha Horton, Matthew, Brandon and Riley Patten as well as great-grandchildren, Nicholas Wells, Alex Hadlock and Gemma and Lucas Fernandez. She will be dearly missed by all including her many nieces, nephews and special friends."
