[606] Walkelin was Seigneur of Ferriers, Saint-Hilaire, Lord of Oakham. His father Henry inherited Normandy land from his uncle Robert de Ferriers, 1st Earl of Derby; Henry is son of Engenulf (William) de Ferriers, son of Henry, Sire de Ferriers & Chambrais in Normandy. M. J. Crispin, "Falaise Roll" (1938), p. 56, states that Henry had three sons, Enguenulf, William and Robert, that the two eldest died childless before Henry, and that Robert succeeded him! (Likely the Walchelin de Ferriers, Lord of Eggington.) See "Medieval English Ancestors of Certain Americans," Carl Boyer III (Santa Clarita, CA, 2001), p. 82, and http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Famille_de_Ferrières.
