He attended Aroostock State Norman School (now known as University of Maine Presque Isle); received a BS from Gorham State Teachers College; M. Ed. CAGS (Certificate of Advanced Graduated Studies) from the University of Maine Orono. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. He married Ermatrude S. "Trudy" Snow in July of 1955. They lived in Poland Spring for over 38 years after moving from Dixfield and Caribou. He taught school in Caribou and Loring Air Force Base; was Principal of Loring Air Force Base Damon School; was Superintendant of SAD 21 Dixfield then Union 29 (now known as RSU16) at which time he went into semi-retirement. During his retirement he worked at Maine Wood Treaters, then H & R Block and finally retired from Just Taxes LLC. He was a 45 year member of the Lions Club and the retired Superintendant's Association. He is survived by his wife Trudy; daughter, Melanie Brow of Acton, son Philip and his partner Debbie Paiment of Casco, and son, Timothy of Casco; grandchildren, Jason Averill, Jill Averill, Christian Averill, Bethany Kubik, Frederick Culver, Jenna Andrews, Jay Andrews, and Robert Andrews; 9 great grandchildren; a sister Margaret Spooner of Taunton, MA.; sisters-in-law, Helen Raymond, Pauline Doolittle and Joan Andrews. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother William Andrews; and sons Michael Andrews and Todd Andrews."
