[61238] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 10 January 2026: "Stockton Springs, Maine - Joan Lois Ness passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, at the age of 82. She was born on April 16, 1943, in Bangor, Maine, to her parents, Ida and George Bartlett, and spent her entire life in the community she loved. Joan was the beloved wife of the late Richard Ness, with whom she shared a beautiful and loving marriage. Together, they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and family. Creating a welcoming home filled with cherished traditions and lasting memories. They shared a rare and magical bond, one that comes along only once in a lifetime. She grew up in Maine and graduated from Bangor High School. For many years, Joan worked at Sears, Roebuck and Company, where she was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and genuine care for others. In addition to her work, she formed many meaningful and lasting friendships throughout the greater Bangor area, where she was well known, respected, and deeply loved. She had an extraordinary love for children and a gentle way of making them feel seen, safe, and understood. Her natural ability to connect with them was one of her greatest gifts. Joan was a devoted mother to her son and daughter, and a proud grandmother. She was affectionately known as 'Gram' by her family. They were the center of her world, and she found her greatest joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her love for them was unconditional and unwavering. Joan is now reunited with her parents, Ida and George Bartlett; her beloved husband, Richard Ness; and her baby brother, Bobby. Memories with her will be cherished by her children, Dan, and Lori and her husband, Roland; her grandchildren, Cam, Colin, Cassidy and her husband, Robbie, and Cody and his wife, Courtney; as well as family members, including Connie; her older brother, George; and many extended family members and friends. Joan will be remembered for her gentle spirit, generous heart, and quiet strength. Her compassion, warmth, and steady presence left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved her."
