"The Perry County Democrat [Bloomfield, PA], 18 January 1928," p. 3: "Mrs. Ellen Wax, widow of Wilson Wax, died at her home at Mannsville of internal cancer on Friday. She had been ill for more than a year and suffered terribly. Death came following a hemorrhage. Mrs. Wax was a daughter of Washington and Mary (Burkepile) Burd, of Mannsville, and was 53 years of age. Her husband died a year ago last September. Surviving are two sons and one daughter Saylor and Tolbert Wax, of Mannsville, and Pearl (Mrs. Grover Freeman), of near Loysville. She was a member of the U. B. Church and was a fine woman, a good mother and kind neighbor. The funeral was on Monday, the services being conducted by Rev. H. D. McKeehan, of Huntingdon. Burial in the Mannsville cemetery."
