[59419] Lois' obituary: "Lois Marion (Moore) Cyr, 84, passed away in Castine, Maine on Tuesday, 31 January 2020. Lois was born at Castine Hospital on Saturday, 24 July 1935, to Frank Atwood and Rilla G. (Leach) Moore. There, she was held by First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. Lois grew up on her family's Castine farm alongside her brother, Clyde. Lois was able to read and write by age three; she attended the Adams School in Castine and graduated with honors from Bangor High, Class of 1954. Lois was a writer and poet all her life. Her first job after graduation was a secretarial position with WABI-TV, Bangor. While there, she did modeling (mostly fur coats). It was also there that she met Paul Cyr. The two hit it off and were married at St. Mary's Church on Saturday, 9 July 1955. They set up housekeeping in Portland, Maine; then, moved to Yarmouth, Maine and finally, Kensington, New Hampshire where they remained until Pauls retirement in 1982. At that point, they returned to Castine permanently. Paul and Lois were involved in the Castine Conservation Trust and the Castine Historical Society, together. While researching their genealogy, Paul and Lois learned that they were descendants of Stephen Perkins and Germain Doucet, two of Castine's early settlers. Paul and Lois were honored to lead the Grand March at Castines Bicentennial celebration as Mr. and Mrs. Castine. Lois worked at the Witherle Library, and was on the Parish Council at her beloved church, Our Lady of Holy Hope, where she was a lector and Eucharistic Minister. Left to cherish her memory are Lois's children: Brian Cyr, of Pittsfield, New Hampshire, Dianne (William 'Bill') Carmody, of Lexington, Kentucky, Elaine (Paul) Bertrand, of Castine; and Kevin (Ellen) Cyr, of Newmarket, New Hampshire; eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Lois was predeceased by her sweet husband, Paul Edward James Cyr, of sixty-two years who was 'the love of her life', in 2017; and her beloved brother, Clyde Millard Moore, in 2010."
