[54160] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 19 March 2001, p. 15: "Washburn and Perham - Darrell Marshall Wardwell, 75, died March 17, 2001, at his Washburn residence. Your life's portrait is finally over; it was a portrait of hard work, love and devotion for your family. Sometimes the colors were bright and shiny, sometimes cold and dark. Only God knows why those last colors had to be there, but with the last stroke of the Master's brush, the portrait is finished framed forever in Heaven Until that great day, Love your family. He was born in Perham, Nov. 27, 1925, the son of Olie and Lillian (Helstrom) Wardwell. He attended the Perham schools and was a member of the Carson Union Church. Mr, Wardwell was a self employed farmer and potato grower on the family farm on the Tabor Road for more than 33 years. Until his retirement he was more recently employed by Atcheson Farms. He married Maxine (Sands) Wardwell on Oct. 30, 1947. Darrell was an avid outdoorsman who truly enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving in addition to his wife of more than 53 years, Maxine of Washburn, are his son, Stephen Wardwell of Woodland;; his daughter and son-in-law Kim and Marty Clayton of Washburn; three brothers, Rodney Wardwell and Calvin Wardwell, both of Perham, and Erben Wardwell of Mims, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Otis (Avis) Brown of Brunswick and Arlene Rideout of Caribou; four grandchildren, Jennifer and Darrell Wardwell and Justin and Kevin Clayton; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Wardwell was predeceased by two sisters, Marilyn Chipman and Gertrude Findley and a daughter-in-law Deborah Wardwell. . . . Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Perham."
