[16943] Amos is second of three children of Nathaniel Perkins (b. 1757 at York, ME, d. 5 Jan 1791 at Brooksville, ME, son of Sparks Perkins and Phoebe Sawyer) and his wife Elizabeth Wescott (b. 6 Feb 1763 at York, ME). Amos m. (2) Hannah (b. 1796, d. 12 Feb 1857, dau. of Nathaniel Atkins and previously married). Nathaniel Perkins was a pioneer settler of Brooksville, ME by 1785 and was a mariner and farmer. Amos' children are given in Brooksville VR with birthdates. (son Amos, Jr. was lost at sea Nov 1838 per VR.) "Maritime History of Brooksville," LeCain W. Smith (Brooksville, ME Historical Society, 2005), p. 71 states Amos (Sr.) was a sea captain.
