She was ill several weeks. Mrs. Wert was an estimable woman and a member of the United Brethren church (sic) for many years. She is survived by three children, John D. Wert, a well known painter, residing on North East street (sic), Carlisle, Mrs. William Miller, who lived with her mother, and J. Edward Wert, of Kansas."

The official archives record of the United Brethren (now United Methodist) Church states: "1869 - license, East Pennsylvania Conference; 1877 - ordained, East Pennsylvania Conference; Obit: East Pennsylvania Conference 1898,31. S.S. Mower never received an appointment from the annual conference, but he served by appointment of the presiding elder as an evangelist. The Mowers had 9 sons and 2 daughters - 8 of the sons became pastors, and 1 of the daughters married a pastor. See the Mower folder in biographical files. They named their sons for United Brethren pastors. Those with ministerial connections are Rev. John Fohl Mower (1846-1943), East Pennsylvania Conference & Nebraska Conference; Rev.
