Everett had been secretary and treasurer of the Madison County Fair Board for over 30 years; a 4-H leader; had been active in the Madison County Pork Producers; had been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset and was a former Sunday School Teacher and church trustee. He was a 1927 graduate of Winterset High School, enjoyed watching sporting events on TV and loved to travel. Everett is survived by his son, Paul E. (Linda) Groth of Boulder, Colorado; daughter, Linda L. (Cecil) Beaman-Sublett of Dove Creek, Colorado; 7 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 4 step- great grandchildren. "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 25 May 1975, p. 28: "Searsport - Donald Vaughan, 82, died at his home May 28 after a long illness. He was born April 7, 1893, son of William and Amanda (Bass) Vaughan. At the age of 21 he was the youngest pharmacist in the state. He opened business in Searsport in 1916 and retired in 1947, but he maintained his certification until the time of his death. He served with the U.S. Army in 1918 as a pharmacist. He was a past master and a 50 year member of Mariners Lodge of Masons of Searsport. He was past high priest and 50-year member of Royal Arch Chapter in Searsport. He is survived by his wife, Bernice (McCaslin) Vaughan; one brother, Austin of Farmington; his step-mother, Edith Vaughan of Belfast; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, the Rev. Richard Blake officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery."
