[14659] The 1910 federal census in Lawrence, Douglas Co., KS lists Seldon as a boarder in the household of Frank B. Smith and reports he is widowed and is a university teacher. "Iola Daily Register And Evening News [Iola, Kansas], 23 April 1930," p. 1: "Lawrence, Kans., Apr. 23. (AP) - Prof. Selden Lincoln Whitcomb. 64. for the past 25 years a member of the English department faculty at the University of Kansas, died at his home here last night. Death was caused by a cerebral hemorrage, Before coming here in 1905, Professor Whitcomb was an Instructor at Grinnell college, Grinnell. la., where he received his master's degree in 1893. He was a member of many educational societies and took an active part in the Kansas Authors club. For the past three years he had been in charge of graduate work in the English department. His widow and a sister living in Eugene, Ore., survive."
