Georg is the eldest son and was born in Albany or Greenwich Twp., Berks Co., PA; is on tax list for Greenwich Twp. in 1758 and in the 1780 tax list as George Loy. He married Rebecca Bossert and Elizabetha _____ (in what order is not known). He inherited 150 acres from his father. The LDS Church's Ancestral File states he d. 1804 and is buried at Stony Run, Berks Co., PA [not verified].
Received via e-mail 27 April 2000:
I found your website via Dolores Walls "The Complete Loy History". I was interested to find Georg Loy b. ca. 1737, son of Matthias Loy in your database. Mühlschlägel researchers have always said that Georg's daughter, Maria Catharine, was the wife of George Heinrich Mühlschlägel of Virginia. Still, doubts have been raised as to the probability because of Maria's age (marriage age would have been 12!). This week I received a copy of Georg Loy's last will and testament and wanted to share it with you.
------------------
Will of George Leh/Ley, June 6, 1804, Greenwich, Berks Co. PA
In the will George refers to himself as Georg Ley but signs Jorg Ley
(umlaut over the "o" and the "y"). There are many references to his
beloved wife Rebecca.
Executors of the will are Valentin Probst and George's son Jacob Ley.
(Jacob signs Ley with an umlaut over the "y")
George wills his plantation of about 140 acres to his wife with an
offer to his son for full purchase. If his son cannot or doesn't want to
purchase the plantation himself, the sale of said plantation should be
divided evenly between his children: Anna Smithin, Margareth Sohin, Susana Fogthin, Elisabeth Himmelin, Catherine Sohin, Barbara Sohin, Jacob Ley,
Magthalina Loy
Total pages 17 with extensive listing of property and persons owing him money. George was evidently fairly wealthy.
-------------------------------
In your data base you list the following children for George: Elizabeth LOY, Susan LOY, Jacob LOY, Mary Magdaline LOY, Maria Catharine LOY, Frederick LOY.
This matches up pretty well with the list of children from the will, with the exception of Frederick who is not mentioned. The married names of George's daughters are also very interesting: Smith, Soh, Himmel and Focht. Do you know anything about these PA families?
I think this will shows that George's daughter Catharine was not the wife of George H. Mühlschlägel. So the search goes on for Maria Catharine Loy married to George H. Mühlschlägel married approx. 1781.
