He was united inmarriage with Josephine Jones, daughter of the late Nathaniel and Meredith Hallowell Jones of Edmunds, in 1867, settling at South Edmund where they made their home for fifty years He will be greatly missed as he was a man of sterling character, honest in all his dealings, and has served his town a selectman, assessor, and tax collector, for a number of years. He was a good and faithful father, a kind neighbor, and friend and a life long member of the M. E. church of which he was a great help. In his late sicknes he was tenderly cared for by his youngest daughter Alice, and husband Capt. R. E. Hallowell. All that medical skill could accomplish a done for him, but to no avail. He leaves to mourn his loss five children, four daughter and one son, Ida, Edith, Lettie, Alice and Florance, all of Edmunds, all being present except the son Florance, one brother, Heman of Pembroke, one sister, Rachel of Edmunds. Also twenty-ona grandchildren and four great-grandchildren."
