[342] John had resided in Barberton, OH for 22 years at the time of his death, and founded Harig Auto Parts (which he sold upon retirement). He was a member of St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Barberton Elks, Fraternal Order of Police Associates, Rotary (and was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International). He was a Republican, and active in Barberton politics. Before he opened his own business, John was employed for 19 years at Shriber Auto Parts in Akron. He was a founding board member of Interval Brotherhood Home, a premier dependancy addiction rehabilitation facility. See his obituary in The Akron Beacon Journal 26 April 1983.
