Zedekiah's dates and places are from file LCXN-3NT in FamilySearch where his surname is Paulin.
Possible genealogy of this Zedekiah - Paulina C. Garza
their father's name in the house. In case you are wondering about the spelling of my grandfather's last name, it is my understanding that there was a rift in the family so Zedekiah added an S to seperate himself from those he was angry with.
My line of descent: ZEDEKIAH T. PAULLINS md. MARY ANN PATTERSON 29 March 1870 (Mahoning County, Ohio, records. Mary Ann was born in Banaker, Offaly County, Ireland, May 1853 and came to this country in 1855. Her mother's name was Ann and it is said that she remarried once she arrived in America to a man by the last name of Loudon. Mary Ann and Zedekiah had 5 children:
William b. 1872
Charles b. ca. 1874
George Elgie b. September 1876 d. July 1952, Pueblo, CO.
He and my grandmother had four children:
George Eugene, b. 17 Oct. 1901 md. 1) Ruth Rose and 2) Naomi ???
Jewel Viola b. 14 January 1904 md/ Hansford Winfield Collins 31 May 1933
d. 29 August 1987
Maurice Elgie b. 27 March 1906
William Banta b. 28 July 1909 md. 1) Lela Estill and 20 Patricia Smith.
Lois Zerua b. ab. 1880 and
Nellie Blye b. ca 1884
Jewel Viola was my mother. George and Ruth had 3 children.
Maurice and Adelaide had no offspring and William had one son by his 2nd wife.
All of George 's descendents still live in the Colorado Springs metro area.
Lois Zeruah b.ca 1880 md. James Ingersoll, Denver, Colo. and later, (after divorcing Ingersoll) William Bodno.
She had one daughter that I know of: Eva Ingersoll who died in Florida in 1978. Eva had no children.
- Paulina C. Garza, 6536 MacBeth Way, Eldersburg, Md. 21784-6269
pgarza3@juno.com (Polly Garza) wrote without documentation on rootsweb.com in 2000: "The younger Zedekiah md. Mary Ann Patterson 29 March 1870 in Youngstown, Mahoning Co., Ohio. Zedekiah was 26 and his bride not yet 16 when her mother, Ann signed her permission. Mary Ann had been born on the banks of the River Shannon near Banagher, Offaly Co., Ireland in May 1853. Her mother, Ann, brought her to Amerca when she was 2 yearws old. It is said that Ann later married again to a Loudon. Zedekiah and Mary Ann settled in the Stark County, Ohio area. They had children: Charles, William, George (my grandfather), Lois Zeruah ("Ruie") and Nellie Blye.
The family story is that Zedekiah died in the famous Johnstown, PA. flood but I have not been able to verify it. Records of the victims of that flood do no carry a Zedekiah T. Paullin. there is a possiblility that he died in a flood in Ohio. whatever happened, Mary Ann took her brood and moved to Colorado Springs, El Paso Co., Colo. The boys were nearly grown and so went out to earn a living while Mary Ann was a seamstress. She never remarried I understand that she died near Orlando, FL. where she went to be with Lois Zeruah Paullins.
Another point is that someone, probably Zedekiah T. (the younger) added an s to the name in some sort of family fued in which he no longer wanted to be associated with the family. So my mother's maiden name was Paullins.
