[49468] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine], 4 October 2020": "Beals - Elliott Wesley Beal, beloved husband, Dad, Papa, Squib to his brothers, Uncle Bib, and a friend to whomever he met, was unexpectedly called home to be with the Lord on October 3, 2020. He was born to the late Uriah and Thelma Beal on June 8, 1936. He met the love of his life, Danita, in the winter of 1952 at a basketball game. He spent his high school years courting her and making many trips between the Island and Columbia Falls. He graduated in 1954 and they were married on July 20, 1956. The next 64 years were filled with much love, happiness, and memories that will live on and never be forgotten. He had four loves in his life: His Lord and Savior, 'Dani Baby', his boys and their families, and a 'Big Rig' wheel in his hands. He was known for his great saxophone playing at many graduations, weddings, funerals, and town events. He was part of the musical group, The Islanders, for several years. On September 11, 1970, without thinking, he courageously and unselfishly dove into the ocean to save Beppy Peabody from drowning. For his heroic action, he was awarded the Silver Lifesaving Medal. He will always be remembered for his hugs and the love he gave. Since he never met a 'stranger', those that came into his life, quickly felt like family. Robert Alley, who shared his love of trucking, became his 'fourth son.' During his 40 years of trucking, he made many friendships. The most life-changing friendship was the one he made with the Lord. On Saturday, he made his final run, and as he entered Heaven's gates he said, for the last time, 'I'm home.' He was predeceased by his brother Paul and wife Frances, sister-in-law Alverda, and daughter-in-law Brenda. He is survived by his beloved wife Danita; son Michale and wife Annette, son Mitchell and wife D'Anna, son Matthew and wife Majel; his grandchildren who were his pride and joy: Micheala and husband Josh, new parents-to-be BreAnna and husband Joe, Micki and husband Mitchell, Morgan, Cole, Sterling, and Maverick; his great-grandchildren Hunter, John, and Natalie Rose; his brother Stanley, his brother Merle and wife Regina; along with many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly."

"News-Journal [Mansfield, Ohio]: "Shelby - Mrs. Estella Jeanette Arnold, 81, of West Main St., died yesterday afternoon in Shelby Memorial hospital following an illness of three years. She was born in Franklin township, June 18, 1872 and lived in this community all her life. She was a member of the Presbyterian church. Surviving are her husband, Adam; one daughter, Mrs. Don Gates, of Ganges; one son, Donald; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; one brother, Delbert Fackler, of Shiloh. Services will be held Saturday at 2 p. m. at the Dye Funeral home with Rev. D. Bruce Young, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery."

[6752] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, ME], 9 September 2021": "Seaford, Va. and Aurora - Don and Charlotte Whitman, loving couple with adventurous spirit, passed away from declining health within months of each other, supported by loving family in Philadelphia, where they had recently relocated to from Seaford, Va., to be close to family. Donald Barton Whitman, 91, was born on July 20, 1929, in Sommerville, Mass., and raised in Bangor. He passed away on May 14, 2021, in Philadelphia, Pa. Don was the son of Donald and Rena Whitman. Charlotte Mace Whitman, 96, was born and raised in Aurora on July 28, 1925, and passed on July 20, 2021, in Philadelphia, Pa. Charlotte was the daughter of Asa Russell and Gladyce T. Mace of Aurora. Dons career as an electrical engineer moved the family around the country. They lived in Alaska, Arizona, California and Maine and finally settled in Seaford, Va. Don and Charlotte were true adventurers. They traveled and visited many friends and family in their famous Rialta over the years, consistently returning to their roots in Maine for the summer season. They devoted time between their cherished cottage in Harpswell and the Aurora farm where they ran their historic blueberry stand on the corner of Route 179 and Route 9 for close to 50 years. They are survived by children, Gayle Gleason of Bar Harbor, Lisa Whitman Seligsohn and Jeff Seligsohn of Philadelphia and Phyllis Whitman Starensier of Aspen. They were predeceased by their son, Trent Gleason. Don and Charlotte loved their many grandchildren, who included Gwen Marbach, Ian and Isaac Pina, Ben, Noa and Sophia Seligsohn and Zoe and Zack Starensier. There are many nieces and nephews as well who have many wonderful memories of their beloved Aunt and Uncle."

There has been confusion as to the parents of William Morton. Virginia Horler
"Bryant 2nd, who married Love Frost, and his family lived first in Gorham, North Yarmouth and Berwick and back to Gorham. He arrived at Jackson Plantation in 1804 and settled on Lot #43.
His son, Bryant 3rd and his wife Mary made their home with Bryant 2nd and his wife. Other Mortons arriving in Jackson in the early 1800's were Ebenezer and Elisha Morton, and Thomas and Hannah Wescott Morton. The name Bryant was not spelled with a 'Y' in their bible records (Briant).
"He died 26 May 1812 at his farm in Jackson of cancer. Buried at his request in his orchard east of the house. Lot #43.

Now to your question about Sabrina. My source was an ancestry.com world tree by 'Contact Unknown'. The Morton-Rich Ancestry has no information on the children of William Morton and Love Frost. I did look at the vital records of marriages at Belfast, Waldo, Maine and certainly agree with you that this Sabrina must have married Oliver Bean 25 Nov 1822 in Belfast. I have changed my own records to reflect this marriage."
Virginial Horler wrote is 2020: "The deed in question was signed in 1818 but not recorded until 1823 in Cumberland Co ME, DB94 p313, between William and Lydia (Strout) Morton, Ephraim and Sally (Strout) Gent, and Jonathan and Rhoda Strout who deeded Cape Elizabeth land to Jesse Dyer. (Sally Strout who married Ephraim Gent and Jonathan Strout were sister and brother of Lydia Strout). The grantee I gave you is Jesse Brown, whereas the correct grantee is Jesse Dyer. Find A Grave Memorial # 29397897 offers: "Johann Bartholomaus Romberger was the patriarch of most Rombergers in the United States today. Variants of the descendants' names include Raumberger, Ramberger, Rumberger, Rambarger and so forth.
Born in Franconia, Bavaria (Germany) Johann was a son of Caspar Romberger, a miller, and his wife Catharina. Johann himself was also a miller, a tenant miller. He arrived in the United States September 1753 aboard the ship "Neptune", landing at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The first of his wives was Anna Maria Brückner, with whom he had children Balthasar (1736), Adam (1740), and Maria Eva (1740).
I've done some reading on the times and circumstances that must have made leaving his hometown easier. The local taxes were extremely high, and the church taxes were high too (while the local bishop was living in a new, sumptuous, massive castle nearby that was bigger than Buckingham Palace). The area was heavy with an honest but poor peasantry who suffered from an ongoing series of droughts, grasshopper plagues, and crop shortages. Indeed, most of the locals would have found it financially impossible to leave the area, but fortunately a miller could still make some income, even a tenant miller who rented his mill from someone else, as Johann Bartholomaus did.
The crossing was done in a slow series of steps, taking various boats and rivers to finally arrive at Rotterdam, Holland. From there the ship left for the Isle of Wight (off Britain's southeast coast) and commenced the long crossing of the Atlantic. The accommodations were not splendid- tight and not overly sanitary. In such crossings of the mid-1700's, each passenger brought his or her own food, and it was roasted on a sandpit on deck. Some never made it to the United States. Those who did (and who were male and over the age of 16) had to sign an oath of allegiance to the British king, because it would be years until the US fought for and won independence from Great Britain.
The reception of American colonists to newly-arrived Germans was overall not terribly warm. As the influx kept rising the locals felt overwhelmed and culturally threatened. Too much German was being spoken everywhere, and the newbies had the audacity to begin their own newspapers in German. Even Benjamin Franklin himself regarded the German people as non-white, and warned that continued acceptance of them would lead to the Germanification of the New World British subjects. Though the newcomers were largely hardworking, pious and literate, they seemed barbaric with their guttural language and tendency to stick to their own. One can imagine that it would have made great sense for them to leave the big city of Philadelphia, and move out to the Lebanon/Lancaster County area of Pennsylvania where they could live more amongst their own, and work the good land that must have reminded them of home.
Johann's second wife was Anna Sabina Häss (or Haas/Hess), whom he married in New Holland, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania on March 31, 1761. They had children Maria Catherine (2/19/1763), Maria Magdalena (12/4/1764), Johannes (2/27/1767), and George Bartholomaus (8/2/1768). All the children of this marriage were born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
Johann Bartholomaus Romberger died in Lebanon, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. Many of his descendants are grateful he had the will, resources, luck, and fortitude to come to America!
