Compton's Encyclopedia (via America Online, 1995): George III (born 1738, ruled 1760-1820). The long, and mostly unhappy, reign of George III encompassed some of the most tumultuous years in British history. During his rule Britain lost the American colonies, joined a coalition against the French Revolution, sent armies to fight those of Napoleon, and saw the steady emergence of cabinet-controlled government and party politics. George III was the first of the Hanoverian kings to be born and brought up in England. He was therefore determined to be an effective king and to make his reign as strong as that of his cousin, Frederick the Great of Prussia (see Frederick the Great). Unfortunately, George was a man of only average
ability, which he combined with a strong streak of stubbornness. The British historian William Lecky claimed that George spent his 60-year reign in "obstinately resisting measures which are now almost universally admitted to have been good, and in supporting measures which are universally admitted to have been bad." The king was not unaided in his follies. By gifts of offices, titles, contracts, and bribes, he sought to build in Parliament a party known as the "king's friends." During his final years the king was increasingly incapacitated by poor health. By 18ll he was both insane and blind. For nine years his son, who
became George IV in 1820, ruled as regent.

She married Garry Garrison in 1957 and due to Garry's career in the U.S. Army, they would see the world together. Bonnie worked at Maine Job Service and also in the human resources department at McCain Foods, where she retired in 1999. She was a longtime member of the Mars Hill and Blaine Community Club for many years. Bonnie also enjoyed getting together with her classmates of 1955, and they would often go out to eat and visit. She also enjoyed reading and dancing. Bonnie's greatest enjoyment in life was her family, and she treasured all the moments that were shared. Bonnie is survived by her five children, Cynthia Kilcollins of Mars Hill, Stephen Garrison and his wife, Kelly, of Mars Hill, Tammy Buckley and her husband, Bob, of Presque Isle, Aaron Garrison and his wife, Kelly, of Mapleton, and Wayne Garrison and his wife, Sally, of Blaine; fifty-two grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Sandra Maynard and her husband, Bill, of Jacksonville, FL; and a stepbrother, Wendell Shaw of Orange Park, FL. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her stepfather, Averill Shaw; her husband, Garry Garrison; a son-in-law, Stan Kilcollins; a great-granddaughter, Maeve Farley; and a stepbrother, Wallace Shaw."
