[45607] An unverified family tree in 2019 in Ancestry.com offers: "When Clarence Albert Rice was born on November 8, 1892, in Waterville, Kansas, his father, Milo, was 27 and his mother, Lura, was 25. He had two children with Mildred May Bartlow. He died on October 14, 1987, in Beaumont, California, at the age of 94, and was buried there." "Waterville Telegraph [Waterville, Kansas], 4 November 1921," p. 4: "C. A. Rice, formerly of Cottage Hill township, sent the Citizens State Bank a couple of pomegranates and some cotton raised on his farm near Blythe, Cal., and he wrote he had won two first prizes, $40 cash, at the fair on his cotton. George Rice, a brother, won two first and two second prizes, $60. We think the boys worthy of honorable mention, however, we attribute a part of their success, at least, to the training they received on the 'Good Old Kansas' farm under their father, Milo Rice."

[2382] "The duchy, bounded by the Rhine, the lake of Constance, the Leh and Franconia, was ruled by the counts of Raetia, one of whom, Burkhard, took the title of duke in 917 and was recognized as such by King Henry I, the Fowler, in 919. On his death in 926 he was succeeded by Hermann, a Franconian noble, who married his widow. When Hermann died in 948 Otto the Great gave the duchy to his own son Ludolf, who had married Hermann's daughter Ida; but he reduced the ducal privileges and appointed counts palatine to watch the royal interests. Ludolf revolted, and was deposed, and other dukes followed in quick succession. During these years the Swabians were loyal to the kings of the Saxon house." - Encyclopaedia Britannica, 1956, 21:628.
