[59913] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 17 July 2025: "Meredith, New Hampshire - Marshall Lancey Hubbard, 80, of Meredith, New Hampshire, passed away on July 10, 2025, at St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Marshall was born on April 8, 1945, in Augusta, Maine, the son of the late Hubert M. Hubbard and Ethelyn Arlona (Foss, Hubbard) Hilton. He grew up in Downeast Maine, spending his time working on his family's chicken farm, digging clams and worms in the mudflats, and swimming off the iconic schooners the Hesper and Luther Little in the Gulf of Maine. He graduated from Wiscasset High School in 1963, where he held school records for cross country and track. Marshall enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving two tours in Vietnam on the USS Enterprise CVN-65 (plank owner) as a petty officer 2nd class E5 aerographer's mate from 1963 to 1968, receiving an honorable discharge in 1968. He also served in the National Guard in Maine as a private (E-2) with Company D 3rd Medium Tank Battalion, 20th Armored, receiving an honorable discharge in 1963, and later in New Hampshire as a sergeant with Battery B, 2nd Battalion, 197th Field Artillery, receiving an honorable discharge in 1987. Marshall was a New Hampshire Fish and Game instructor and former scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop #55 in Meredith. As the owner of Hub's Engine Service, he was certified to repair all types of engines and worked at several marinas and local companies as service manager. There wasn't a motor he couldn't fix. Marshall had a love for the outdoors, spending most of his free time hunting, fishing, and camping with friends and family. He was passionate about John Deere tractor collecting and restoration, and was a member of the Northeast Two-Cylinder Club and the New Hampshire Antique Tractor Club. Marshall is survived by his wife, Joyce (Chistolini) Hubbard; son, Eric Hubbard; daughter, Andrea (Hubbard) Cheeney and son-in-law, Greg Cheeney; grandchildren, Benton, Andrew, and James Cheeney, and Phoebe Hubbard; sister, Patricia Hubbard; several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews; longtime friend, Steve Drzewiecki; and many others. He will be remembered for his big blue eyes, honesty, caring heart, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and darn it if he wasn't always right. . . . "
