She was born in Newton, MA, the daughter of Reynold Arthur Grammer Sr and Estella Hull. She was predeceased by her husband, Merle B. Grindle Jr. in 1994; brother Reynold Arthur Grammer Jr. in 2005; and her niece Margaret Grammer-Vallejos in 1989. Mrs. Grindle grew up in Newtonville, Mass., and was a 1951 graduate of Boston University, College of Music. She played the piano for her own personal enjoyment and gave lessons to young beginners in her community. As a youngster she summered in Maine and made her home there at the time of her second marriage. An avid painter she enjoyed capturing on canvas the animals, flowers and scenes of Maine. She loved relaxing watching a football game while knitting a sweater for a family member. Joanne was also well known for her homemade holiday cookies."

[23278] "My dad is the epitome of all I want to become. I was not born until he was 40 years old so much of his youthful indescetions had past and he honed his parenting skills onthe other 6 kids in the family. He was not active in the church for much of my childhood, but he was always supportive and encouraging for those of us who were. I am thankful for repentance, because my dad taught me how to use it. He also taught me how to avoid needing to use it for the more severe things. I love my dad and hope that all I know of him will be passed on to my kids. I hope they learn to love him through me. I hope they turn their hearts to him to see that in many ways he was a pioneer in the Haws family, introducing us to the gospel and accepting not only the truths but the works of the gospel that will bless us all eternally." - by his son who provided much of the information in the imported GEDCOM for this family.
