She survives. He was a 1936 graduate of Shreve High School, was engaged in farming all of his life and had worked at The Gerstenslager Co., Wooster, for 27 years. He was Plain Township clerk for 36 years, retiring in 1984. He was a life member of Blachleyville Church of Christ, where he was an elder, Sunday school superintendent and a Sunday school teacher for 25 years. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau, Wayne County Agricultural Society for 55 years and was a board member of the State Grange, National Grange, Blachleyville Grange, Union Grange and Landmark Co-operative Board. He was a 4-H adviser and was on the first board of Christian Children's Home. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling and hunting. Surviving in addition to his wife, are sons, Carl M. Jr. (Marilyn) Schmid and Robert E. (Gerri) Schmid, both of Wooster and John R. (Betty) Schmid of Texas; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Olive M. Sargeant of Wooster. A brother, Calvin E. Schmid, died previously."
