[60717] Elaine's obituary: "Elaine Hamilton Goodie, 93, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 11, 2021, with her loving family by her side. She was born October 15, 1927, in Jonesport, the daughter of Clifford and Eleanor (Alley) Hamilton She grew up in Orono and graduated from Orono High School. She married the love of her life, Joseph Goodie, on February 6, 1948. They moved to Old Town where they raised their five sons before moving to Kissimmee, Florida, where they lived for the next 31 years. Following her husband's death on January 10, 2019, Elaine returned to Maine to be closer to her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mom and Dad loved their motorcycle trips with the ReTreds Club of Maine, square dancing, and especially reading and nightly playing cards with family. Elaine was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Joe; and her sons, David Goodie and his wife, Sue, of Old Town, and James Goodie of Hudson, New Hampshire. She is survived by sons, Joe and wife, Penny, of Levant, Larry and wife, Laurie, of Old Town, and Tom and wife, Anne, of Glenburn; and daughter-in-law, Diane Goodie of Hudson, New Hampshire; sister, Caroline and her husband, Bob Scott, of Milford; brother, George Hamilton and wife, Muriel, of North Carolina; special brother-in-law, Phil Goodie and wife, Betty, of Florida; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and their families."
[13607] Ancestry.com offers: "Lockwood Name Meaning - English: habitational name from a place in West Yorkshire, probably named in Old English as 'enclosed wood', from loc(a) 'enclosure' (see Lock) + wudu 'wood'. It seems likely that all present-day bearers of the name descend from a single family which originated in this place. There is another place of the same name in Cleveland, first recorded in 1273 as Locwyt, from Old English loc(a) + Old Norse viðr 'wood', 'brake', but it is not clear whether it has given rise to a surname."
