[49369] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine], 14 May 2014": "MIlford - Harold 'Sonny' Ellis Knight, 85, died May 11, 2014 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Harold was born June 1, 1929, in Calais, to father, Merle H. Knight and mother, Hazel C. Merritt Knight. Harold married Sheila R. Brodie in Lubec; together they raised three children and were married 62 years until Sheila's death on Dec. 17, 2012. Harold retired in 1977 from employment with the State of Maine as a game warden supervisor. He and Sheila enjoyed 35 years together in retirement; both were blessed to have good health and were active spending time at their summer camp on Dobsis Lake, and their winter/fall camp on Great Works Stream where they enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, fishing and hunting, good food, relaxing, reading and time at the lake with their grandchildren. Harold was able to fix just about anything. He enjoyed flying and kept a small plane until his 'eyes got bad' with old age. Harold was a HAM radio enthusiast since 1948 and enjoyed the Grey Hair NET as W1SKS. Harold repaired and restored old clocks and old radios. He was a good husband, father and a good man with integrity and character to be admired. He was a gentleman. 'The Old Guy' will be missed by his surviving family: son, John S. Knight with wife, Dianne of Bucksport, and grandsons, Jared Knight and Jamison (Jake) Knight with wife, Kera and baby daughter, Shyla; daughter, Cynthia Sheila Brodie of Milford, and granddaughter, Emily E. Varmecky of Bozeman, Mt.; and daughter, Pamela R. Smallwood with husband, Michael of Oakland, and grandsons, Samuel J. Smallwood with wife, Robin, Jesse M. Smallwood with wife, Jadian and baby daughter, Adilee, Caleb J. Smallwood with wife, Krista."
