[9665] Frances m. Wolmer Sorensen.
[40160] Find A Grave Memorial 34156325 offers: ". . . Josiah is the founder of the Connecticut Churchill's. He was one of the earliest settlers of Wethersfield, Connecticut. Wethersfield is generally considered to be the first permanent English settlement in Connecticut. Explored in 1633 by a party consisting of John Oldham and three others; Wethersfield was settled the next year. Oldham and nine others formed a group known as the 10 original settlers. They were soon joined by a party of 60 men, women and children who made the arduous overland voyage in the early fall of 1635. These original settlers all came from Watertown, Massachusetts, having been released by the church to make the settlement, an outpost of the Watertown Chuch and named likewise. Wethersfield, the oldest permanent settlement in Connecticut was first known by its Indian name 'Pyquag.' The name was changed to Wethersfield in 1637. Josiah Churchill (the immigrant) was born in 1613 at Muston, Dorset England. Josiah came to America as a sailor from England about midyear 1635. He married Elizabeth Foote, daughter of Nathaniel and Elizabeth Deming Foote. Early records show Josiah was in real estate in Wethersfield." His parents are not known; see "One Life at a Time: A New World Family Narrative, 1630-1960," complied by R. Thomas Collins, Jr. (Fairfax Co., VA: Ravensyard Publishing, Ltd., 1999 - ISBN 0-9667883-0-3), # 17.Josiah enlisted from Wethersfield as a soldier in the Pequot War. See "The Churchill Family in America," Gardner Asaph Churchill and Nathaniel Wiley Churchill (Boston: Published by he Family of G. A. Churchill, 1904).

[8089] James' parents and their family are given in "Briner Family History," Jerry A. Clouse and Forrest D. Myers (Harrisburg, PA, 1984), pp. 134-5. "Ohio, County Marriages, 1789-2013," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X897-R7G : 27 September 2017) lists the marriage of James and Ettie [sic] in Williams Co., OH and states James was b. in Fremont, IN. "Battle Creek Enquirer, 21 April 1958," p. 4, provides the obituary of James Alford Gallaway.
[42785] William is son of Jonathon Hall (1794 - 1868) & Elizabeth Long (____ - 1838). "The Perry County Democrat [Bloomfield, Pennsylvania], 17 June 1908," p. 3: "William Hall, a former well-known and highly respected resident of this county, died at the home of his son, E. Grant Hall, in Fairmont, Neb., on Saturday evening, aged 86 years. His death was indirectly due to an accident which he sustained last December, when be fell and broke one of his hip bones, since which he had never been able to walk. It is also thought that he had a light stroke. His remains were brought east and passed through here today on the way to Landisburg, where the funeral will take place tomorrow (Thursday) morning at 10 o'clock. The deceased was a son of Jonathan and Elizabeth (Long) Hall and was born in Toboyne township in October, 1822. He moved from New Germantown to Alinda in 1865 and for the past twenty years had been living in the west. Mr. Hall was the father of ten children, eight of whom survive, namely: Rev. G. C. Hall, D. D., Wilmington, Del.; Matilda, (Mrs. Samuel Rice) Landisburg; Sarah, (Mrs. James Rhine-smith) Alinda ; Mary, (Mrs. D. J. Kell) of this place; William, Fairmont, Neb.; Maggie, (Mrs. Sylvester Spotts) Abilene, Kan.; Anna, (Mrs. George E. Aldrich) and E. Grant Hall), Fairmont, Neb. Mr. Hall when a young man became a member of the Reformed church, under the pastorate of Rev. Leinbach, After going west, there being no Reformed church near the place of his residence, he connected himself with the Congregational church. He was an honorable, conscientious, christian gentleman and lived a life of probity and usefulness, and when his summons came was ready to go. His memory will ever be cherished and revered by bis children and many friends."

[22686] http://www.britannia.com/bios/lords/rivers2aw.html offers: "Anthony Woodville, Earl Rivers (1440-1483) - Born: 1440 probably at Grafton Regis, Northants, Earl Rivers, Died: 25th June 1483 at Pontefract Castle, Yorks West Riding. Anthony, son of Richard Woodville, the 1st Earl Rivers, and Jacquetta, Duchess of Bedford, was the brother of Edward IV's Queen. He first appears on record, in 1460, as fighting on the Lancastrian side during the War of the Roses, but transferred his allegiance and, after his sister's marriage, was loaded with wealth and honours by the Yorkist King. He was a curious product of that bloodstained age, for not only was he a considerable scholar and author, the earliest patron of Caxton and the translator of the first book printed in England, but also, in the last twelve years of his life, a devotee and an ascetic. He was incessantly going upon pilgrimages, and throwing up secular offices to do so, and, after his execution, a hair shirt was found next to his skin. On the death of Edward IV, he was at Ludlow with his nephew, Edward V, and, at once, started for London, intending to confront and probably to overthrow Richard of Gloucester who had become Protector; but that astute Royal Prince was too quick for his rival and, after an apparently friendly meeting, arrested the Earl and sent him to be beheaded at Pontefract in June 1483. {Edited from Emery Walker's "Historical Portraits" (1909).}" Cf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Woodville,_2nd_Earl_Rivers.
