He was aged 84 years. He Is survived by two children, Mrs. John Wiarren, residing in Upper Mifflin Township, and George Brown, at home. He was born and reared near Newville, and had been a farmer, retiring from active work several years ago. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 21, from his late home at 10 o'clock, Rev. S. E. Vance, of the Church of God, officiating. Interment will be made in Newville Cemetery."

He also enjoyed going to dances in Sherman and at the KC Hall in Lincoln with his brother, Gene, Roy Lee and Warren. He will be dearly missed by his family, especially his little sidekick, Sarah. He is survived by three children, Thomas Stoddard, Jr. and his wife, Colleen, Judith Gilman and her husband, Buddy and Peter Stoddard and his wife, June; five grandchildren, Thomas Stoddard, III and his wife, Holly, Marie Porter and her husband, Corey, Melinda Stoddard, Joshua Gilman and his wife, Kendra and Elizabeth Gilman; one brother, Eugene Stoddard; thirteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Stoddard; a great-grandson, Dylan Porter; eight brothers and one sister."

Irene Briner, 87, formerly of West High Street, New Bloomfield, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, in Perry Village Nursing Home. Born Oct. 30, 1913, in Mifflintown, she was daughter of the late Harry and Margaret (Kauffman) Zeiders. She was a member of New Bloomfield United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school; a retired licensed practical nurse, and was retired from the Harrisburg State Hospital. Mrs. Briner also was a member of the New Bloomfield Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. The widow of Frank A. Briner Sr., she is survived by two sons, Frank A. Briner Jr. and John H. Briner, both of New Bloomfield; a daughter, Doreen Frymoyer of Liverpool; two sisters, Evelyn Briner of New Bloomfield and Marion Hostetter of Carlisle, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Martin Zeiders."
