[9437] "The Perry County Democrat [Bloomfield, Pennsylvania], 23 October 1935," p. 3: "Miss Jane Swarner, aged 55 years, 11 months and 1 day, of near Loysville, died at Carlisle late Tuesday evening of complications. She had been in the Carlisle Hospital for some time and later was removed to the home of a nurse in Carlisle where she passed away. Although able to work until going to the hospital, she was in ill health all summer. Miss Swarner was a daughter of Frank and Laura Lightner Swarner and was born near Loysville. She was a registered nurse and was a graduate of the Training School for Nurses at Bay View Hospital, where she also was a supervising nurse for many years. She later spent several years with relatives in Lincoln, Nebraska, then was employed as matron of a home at Laurel, Md., until several years ago, when she resigned her position to return home and care for her mother until death claimed her. She had also come home a few years ago and tenderly cared for her sister, Mary, Mrs. James Morrow, until her death. She was a fine lady who considered the good of others at all times and her bright, sunny nature won for her many friends. Surviving her are three sisters and a brother: Annie, Mrs. Richard Albright, of Carlisle; John Swarner, of near Loysville; Florence, Mrs. John Pollom. of Independence, Iowa, and Sara, Mrs. Lawrence Himes, of Oil City. Funeral services were field in the Loysville Lutheran church, of which she was a member, Saturday at 2.30 . . . "
