Vital Records of York, ME (Camden: Picton Press, 1992)
"The Cambridge City Tribune [Cambridge City, Indiana], 24July 1913":
The death of Moses Myers, Sr., at his home northwest of this city last Friday noon, will make a change in the business and public affairs of this locality, which began with his advent in this world August 9, 1828. this occurred at the home of his parents, Moses Myers and Barbara Heiny, whose united lives were passed on the farm 4 miles north of this city now owned by Frank and George Myers. They were pioneer farmers, and honorable, industrious citizens. These traits were inherited by this son, and before his death he had acquired some 600 acres of land in this township, honored and respected by every one who ever knew him. He was the soul of honor. Probably he did not always see as other men, but his intentions were of the best, and in this way and in every way he was a good citizen. And a good citizen is a good husband and a good father.
In 1854 at the age of 26 years he was united by marriage to Mary Ellabarger, daughter of the late Rudolph Ellabarger, who died about 30 years ago. The issue of this union was four sons and two daughters. Of these Rudolph, Fannie and Lydia died early in life, and Isaiah some years ago, leaving Moses and Jeremiah the survivors of this family. A few years later he married Sara Eshelman daughter of Henry and Nancy Ritter Eshelman, who with two of three daughters, Mrs. Sherman Howard and Mrs. Arville Paul, survive. Matilda died at the age of 18 months.
After a long sickness, the good friend of us all has passed to his reward.
Of his father's family of nine children, all have passed away except a half-sister, Mrs. John Roher, of Ellwood.
The age of Mr. Myers was 81 years, 11 months and 9 days, and of these years he passed 55 on the farm where he died.
Funeral services were conducted at the Dunkard church, southwest of Hagerstown, Monday morning, by Rev. D. E. Bowman and B. S. Herr, and the remains laid to rest in the beautiful cemetery near by.
