Vinie, as she was affectionately known, was born on February 25, 1952, to William and Joan Leach. The oldest of their four children, she is survived by her siblings Elizabeth (Leach) Conners of East Corinth, Lorraine (Leach) Saunders and Thomas Leach, both of Orland. She was also a loving and beloved mother to her two daughters, Michelle (Snowman) Staples of Holden and Brandy Snowman of Orland. Additionally she is survived by her two grandsons, Carl Astbury of Orland and William Staples of Holden and by her long-time partner George Nason of Bucksport. Vinie enjoyed knitting and crocheting, seemingly always having a project or two going. She was also an avid reader, always having at least one book going and stacks of books waiting their turn. In addition, she was an excellent cook who never turned a hungry person away from her table. Vinie was well-known and loved for her willingness to listen and offer sound advice and her counsel will be sorely missed."
