[56314] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 10 May 2024: "Milbridge - Owen 'Odie' Wayne Beal, 83, went home to be with the Lord on May 5, 2024, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. He was born on November 2, 1940, in Milbridge, the son of Malcolm and Ethelyn (Young) Beal. Owen graduated from Milbridge High School in 1960, the Valedictorian of his class. That same year, he met the love of his life, Alice Bernice Grant. Owen and Alice were married in January 1961 and spent the next 50 years raising their family and touching the lives of all they came in contact with. Owen spent his life working around the ocean, digging clams and worms, but the majority of his work was that of a lobster fisherman. He loved being on the ocean in his boat and was getting ready to set his traps again this year at the time of his passing. Owen also spent many years doing the Lord's work and preaching for the Milbridge Church of Christ while fishing. He served for a period of time as an Elder for the church and his faith in God never wavered from the time he was baptized. He was a member of the Milbridge Volunteer Fire Department, and in recent years could be found handing out lobsters at the Annual Firemen's Cookout on Milbridge Days. In his younger years, Owen enjoyed bowling in a Men's League at Eastward Lanes, in Ellsworth, where he and Alice also bowled in a couples' league. Hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes, and gardening were some of his favorite pastimes over the years. Owen loved to play cribbage and taught his four daughters how to play. One of his favorite things was hosting his Annual 4th of July Cookout at camp. He loved to share this beautiful spot and the bounty of the ocean with loved ones and dear friends and invited people from near and far to join us each year. Owen is survived by his daughters, Resa Beal (Mike) Drake of Otis, Coreen (Danny) Burt of Milbridge, Dawn (Richard) Fickett of Cherryfield, and Mary (Royce) Gordon of Ellsworth; grandchildren, Misty, Philip, Cory (Becca), Alicia (Paul), Meagan, Kyle, Jared, Cassandra, Zachary, Jacqueline, Julia, Kendra, Emma, Jaden, and Teri-Ann; great-grandchildren, Natalie, Ethan, Wesley, Philip, and Ellie; siblings, Nancy Harrington, Mary Smith, Delcina McLain, Sharon (Marvin) Moore, Libby (Wayne) Joyce, Dale (Valerie) Beal, Patrick (Dianne) Beal, and Shelley Phinney (Amos); sisters-in-law, Lillian (Dale) Griffin and Charlene Bagley; and many special nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Alice in 2011; parents, Malcolm and Ethelyn; grandson, Owen Fickett; sister, Joanne Potter; twin brothers, Vin and Vid; and several brothers-in-law."

[2754] "Medieval English Ancestry of Certain Americans," Carl Boyer III (2001), p. 7 provides much information. "The History and Antiquities of the County of Leicestershire," John Nichols, Vol. 2, part 1 (London: 1795) provides Adeliza as his wife. William was first Earl of Arundel, 1141-1176; also Earl of Lincoln, Earl of Sussex and Chicester, Lord of Buckenham and Master Butler. {-ref.: "Royal Ancestors of Magna Charta Barons," Carr P. Collins, Jr., Dallas, 1959, p. 28} He was first Earl of Lincoln in 1139. He was created Earl of Sussex by King Stephen. He was known as "The Stronghand." http://www.thepeerage.com/p10225.htm states "In 1139 he gave shelter to the Empress Maud at Arundel Castle, but ever after adhered to King Stephen. He held the office of Lord of the Manor of Buckenham, Norfolk in 1139. In 1153 he was influential in arranging the treaty where King Stephen retained the corwn for life, but with Henry II as heir.2 In 1163/64 he was one of the embassy to Rome. In 1168 he was one of the embassy to Saxony. He was commander of the Royal army in Normandy, against the King's rebellious sons, where he distinguished himself with 'swiftness and velocity' in August 1173. He fought in the battle near Bury St. Edmunds on 29 September 1173, where he assisted in the defeat of the Earl of Leicester who had, with his Flemings, invaded Suffolk." Also see http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~pmcbride/james/f019.htm and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_d'Aubigny,_1st_Earl_of_Arundel.
[52876] Polly is said to be daughter of Daniel Darling (b. in 1761) & Elizabeth Kendall Craige (1766=1841).
