"The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine], 2 June 2015": "Penobscot - Susan A. (Dorr) Hatch, 61, went to be with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ, peacefully and unexpectedly, at her home on June 1, 2015. She was born July 23, 1953, in New Haven, Conn., to Gilbert and Elaine (Colson) Dorr. Sue lived in Killingworth, Conn., until she was 16 years old, when she moved to Penobscot and attended George Stevens Academy. There, she met her high school sweetheart, Robert Hatch, and they spent the next 42 years of their lives together, 'off and on,' as she liked to say. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Billy Dorr, and a beloved niece, Deena Lee Judkins. Sue was a woman of faith. She was proud, and lived her life from the heart. She never hesitated to share her opinion on anything, or anyone. She always rooted for the underdog, and if someone needed saving, she was the one to extend her hand. She was quick to anger, and even quicker to forgive. Her passion and love for her family made her a force to be reckoned with. Her greatest loves in life, besides her family, were her dogs, Maggie and Macy. The family camp was her favorite place to be, and she would start to plan the annual 'family camp weekend' months in advance. She is survived by Robert Hatch of Sedgwick; her son, Ed, and wife, Crystal, of Orland; her daughter, Frannie, and husband, Mike, of Bucksport; her '5Gbabes,' grandchildren, Cole, Naomi, Grace, Aiden and Camden. She also leaves her sisters, Sally Judkins and her husband, David, of Penobscot, and Cheryl Crawford, and her husband, Benny, of Castine, and several nieces and nephews. Her greatest accomplishments in life were attaining her high school diploma at the age of 26, opening her own business, Deena Lee's Variety in Ellsworth, from 1997-2001, and being a 'Mimi' to her five grandchildren. Her other passions in life included four-wheeling, feeding her birds, collecting salt and pepper shakers, and spending time at her beloved camp on Green Lake. She was an avid baker, and cook. Sue also had a passion for caring for the elderly and spent the last twelve years of her working life, caring for Barbara Stearns of Castine, who predeceased her in December 2013."
