[44469] "Akron Beacon Journal, 18 June 2014," p. B004; "Lawrence 'Larry' Gordon Lay, 59, beloved son of Delores Lay and the late C. William Lay, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Friday, June 13, 2014. He was born December 28, 1954 in Akron and grew up in Tallmadge, graduating from Tallmadge High School in 1973. He later went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Technical Education from The University of Akron. He was a loving son, father, and uncle. Larry was exceptionally generous with his time and talents, and was often called upon to help family and friends with projects, including anything from roofing, remodeling, painting, landscaping, car repairs, and 'stuth' like that. Larry is survived by his devoted mother, Delores Lay; caring daughters, Shannon (Todd) Hone of Medical Lake, Wash, and Rachelle (Charlie) Hughes of Akron; brother, Martin Lay of Columbus; and sister, Lisa Ewing of Uniontown; eight grandchildren, Skylar, Jett, and Aurora Hone, Alyssa Bauer, Madison, Jackson, Charlie, and Delaney Hughes; nieces and nephews, Jesse (Laurel Mahon) Ewing, Casey (Amber Creel) Ewing, Melissa Ewing-Andrews, Pearl (Bryon) Colley, Portia Simon (Chuck Baker), and Jacob Lay. He was preceded in death by his father, C. William Lay; loving son, Lawrence Damon Lay; brother, Cristin Lay; nephew, Scottie Ewing; and sister-in-law, Chia Lay. Larry will be dearly missed by close extended family, Carolyn and Ray, and friends, Randy, Dani, and Bobby, as well as his cherished cat, Lucky Lady."
