[59206] His obituary: "Gregory Richard Coffin - January 5, 1944 - April 24, 2025 - Greg Coffin passed away peacefully at his home on April 24, 2025 after a long and quiet decline. Born in Portland, Maine, and raised in Machias, Greg graduated from Machias Memorial High School in 1962 and went on to serve as an officer in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war.. Just before his deployment, he married the love of his life, Marcia (Poynter), following a string of chance meetings in the Baltimore area that both believed were meant to be. After his military service, Greg joined the anti-war movement and lived in various places before returning to Maine. He joined his fathers retail business, Western Auto, which together with Marcia and a loyal team of employees, transformed the business into a thriving True Value Hardware store that remains a fixture in the community to this day. In the 1980s, Greg designed and built a family camp on Bog Lake in Northfield and it became a beloved summer home and getaway for Gregs family and extended family, lending to a lifetime of beautiful memories. Greg often said that besides marrying Marcia, building that cabin was one of the best decisions he ever made. Greg had a lifelong passion for cars - not as a mechanic, but as an enthusiast who followed professional racing, and loved driving, owning and trading vehicles. He attended many races across the country and understood the nuances of the cars and tracks. Greg also had a deep affection for dogs, especially standard poodles, of which he owned several. His companion Max was a familiar presence at the hardware store, where he frequently went with Greg for a day of work. Greg was also civically engaged, serving on the Machias School Board, the Marshfield Planning Board, and as a Director at Machias Savings Bank. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Marcia (Poynter) Coffin, son Matthew and his wife Natasha, daughter Andrea, son Aaron and his wife Jillian, granddaughters Orchid, Sevilla, and Hadley, grandsons Sky, Max, and Nikos, sister Anne Gaynor, sister Joann and her husband, Cony Upton. He was predeceased by his father Donald and mother Marian. He leaves behind a legacy of love and quiet devotion to the people and places he held dear."

[27585] "Public Opinion [Chambersburg, Pennsylvania], 3 September 1955," p. 1: "Franklin County's highway death toll continued to grow today as the 24th victim of the year was claimed In a spectacular car - truck collision just south of Greencastle on U. S. Route 11. Crushed and killed Instantly In the crash was John R. Grove Jr., 37, of 19 Hemlock Circle. The driver of the truck, identified by police as William J. Monroe, 33, of West Wood, N. C., escaped with minor abrasions of the hand despite the fact that his truck suffered $5,500 damages. Grove's 1953-model Chevrolet sedan was demolished. Police set the damage at $1,000. The truck driver was not held. Grove, whose crushed body was pulled from the twisted wreckage of his car after the head - on crash which occurred at 12:30 this morning, was pronounced dead at the scene by a Greencastle physician. The body was taken to the Minnich funeral home in Greencastle and later today was transferred to the Sellers funeral home here. Plans for an Inquest Into the death were being made today by Dr. S. D. Shull, Franklin County coroner. State police said the accident occurred soon after Grove, traveling alone, left Greencastle traveling toward Hagerstown on the old portion of Route 11. As the Grove car neared the point south of Greencastle where the old section of Route 11 joins the new section which by-passes the Antrim borough, it sped toward the main highway traveling the wrong way on a one-way spur designed to carry traffic off Route 11 onto the old route into Greencastle. At the Intersection, police said they were told by witnesses, the Grove car sped onto Route, 11 without observing a stop sign and crashed head-on Into the oncoming tractor-trailer truck operated by Monroe and owned by Ralph T. Myrich, Pompano Beach, Fla. The impact of the crash was so great that the front wheels and axel were sheared from the truck and the heavy vehicle, minus these wheels, plowed down a slight embankment and Into a field. Members of the Rescue Hose Company's corps of fire police assisted State police in handling the flow of traffic following the accident. A machinist at the T. B. Wood's Sons Company plant here for the past 13 years, Grove was a native of Chambersburg. He was born on June 19, 1918, and was a veteran of World War II and a member of the First Evangelical United Brethren Church. Survivors Include his widow, Mrs. Ruby Heeler Grove, and a daughter, Roxanne, at home; his father, John R. Grove, of 357 E. Washington St.; his mother, Mrs. Margaretta Bowers Grove, of 328 McKinley St.; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter E. Bowers, 309 E. Liberty St.; a brother, Walter Grove, 328 McKinley St., and a sister, Mrs. Daniel Miller, Zullinger; two children by a former marriage, Carol Jean Grove and John R Grove Jr., R. R. 3. . . . Burial will be made at Lincoln Cemetery."

[35634] Lawrence is from the unverified Perreault Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2013 which states he m. Florence _____ (b. ca. 1895) and r. in Boston, Suffolk Co., MA. The 1920 federal census in Boston lists him and wife Florence (age 25, b. in Canada) and children Bradford (5) and Willard (1), both b. in MA. The 1910 federal census lists him in Providence, RI and states Florence was b. in ME. Ancestry.com offers: "Moore Name Meaning - English: from Middle English more 'moor', 'marsh', 'fen', 'area of uncultivated land' (Old English mor), hence a topographic name for someone who lived in such a place or a habitational name from any of the various places named with this word, as for example Moore in Cheshire or More in Shropshire. English: from Old French more 'Moor' (Latin maurus). The Latin term denoted a native of northwestern Africa, but in medieval England the word came to be used informally as a nickname for any swarthy or dark-skinned person. English: from a personal name (Latin Maurus 'Moor'). This name was borne by various early Christian saints. The personal name was introduced to England by the Normans, but it was never as popular in England as it was on the Continent. Irish: Anglicized form of Gaelic Ó Mórdha 'descendant of Mórdha', a byname meaning 'great', 'proud', or 'stately'. Scottish: see Muir. Welsh: from Welsh mawr 'big', applied as a nickname or distinguishing epithet."
