Gray & Snow (loc. cit.) state he m. his cousin Charlotte Grindle, daughter of his aunt Nancy Gray and husband Eliphalet Grindle; Charlotte m. 2nd Adam Gray, Jr. on 17 May 1827; Charlotte was b. Sedgwick, ME 7 June 1797 and d. 18 Jan 1886. "History of Castine - The Battle Line of Four Nations," George A. She was a member of the West Tremont Methodist Church and past noble grand of Rowena Rebekah Lodge of here. Surviving, besides her husband, are two daughters, Mrs. Maxine Clark of Southwest Harbor, Mrs Charlotte Black of Bernard; two sons, Perly of Seal Cove and Lyford of McKinley; 12 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs Cora Page of Newcastle; two brothers, Carroll Staples of Swans Island and Burley of South Bristol; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Fernald Funeral Chapel, Mount Desert, the Rev. James Waugh and the Rev. Gerard Remsen officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Height Cemetery, Southwest Harbor."
