[51794] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine], 11 April 2017": "Blue Hill - Lloyd Edward Astbury, 85, of Blue Hill died peacefully at the Deer Isle Nursing Home on Wednesday, April 5. Lloyd was born in Blue Hill on Nov. 25, 1931, to John and Hazel (Wescott) Astbury. He was married to his beloved wife, Colene, for 65 years. Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, John and Hazel Astbury, and two granddaughters, Amy Jo McNeal and Tara Lou Astbury. He is survived by his wife, Colene, sister Jeanette Eastman and husband, Clarence, brother Clyde Astbury and wife, Gloria, son Perry Astbury and wife, Sylvia, daughter Diane McNeal, daughter Crystal Norris and husband Wayne, four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Also his dear friend since childhood, Gordon Howard, with whom he spent over 60 years hunting and fishing. Lloyd had a long and successful career as an equipment operator. He began working for the state as a teenager operating a hand shovel and moved up through several construction companies until he retired from Cianbro Corp. in 1994, having worked on several mills and bridges in the state while operating one of Cianbros largest cranes. Bored with retirement, he worked for E.L. Shea for a few years, had a brief spell of caretaking and finished up with Mike Astbury Construction until his body said, 'Thats enough!'. Lloyd loved hunting and fishing almost as much as breathing. Colene was often with him on fishing trips to East Grand with Uncle Merle and Aunt Co, on the Alagash camping with Gordon and Pat, or on one of the many family weekend camping and fishing times at Tunk Lake. He also loved moose hunting trips with the old gang and deer hunting the Bowden Place with Gordon and Perry. Lloyd enjoyed going to snowmobile races with Clyde, David and Henry that always led to discussions about whose snowmobile was the fastest. Sunday morning breakfast at his mothers was something he looked forward to. They always involved a debate between Lloyd, his father, Henry, and Clyde over whose truck was the strongest and whose rifle could shoot the straightest! Lloyd played hard but worked harder his whole life. He always told Perry, 'Dont smoke, work hard and always pay your bills and everything else just fills in.'."
[54828] EtheLinda is daughter of John Lambert Cassel (1837-1911) & Amanda Catherine Rupley (1846-1899, buried in Primrose Cemetery, Primrose, Williams Co., OH).

Find A Grave memorial 110351673 offers:
Rebecca Galloway was born October 7, 1791, near Lexington, Kentucky. She was the daughter of James Galloway, who had been born in Pennsylvania in 1750. He served in the Revolution for nearly two years as a soldier and hunter, providing meat for his regiment. In 1798, the Galloway family came as some of the earliest settlers to the northern area of Greene County, Ohio. The family built a two-story log cabin about a mile from the large Indian village of Old Chillicothe, which is now called Old Town. It is located between Fairborn and Xenia.
A frequent visitor was the great Shawnee chief, Tecumseh, who lived near Old Town. As Rebecca was growing up, she would entertain Tecumseh by the hour, helping to improve his English and reading to him from the Bible and her family's large library of books. Their friendship eventually blossomed into love. Tecumseh asked Rebecca's father for her hand in marriage. In 1808, marriage at age sixteen was not unusual for a young woman, nor was it unusual for a widower to seek the hand of such a woman, but this courtship was different. After long consideration on both sides, it was decided that such a match could not possibly work.
Before he kissed her a sad farewell, Tecumseh promised that his warriors would give humane treatment to those captured by the Indians in battle. This promise was kept as long as he lived. Tecumseh, Chief of the Shawnees, became one of the most remarkable men of his race. He fell in battle on October 5, 1813, at the age of 45. That same year, Rebecca married her cousin George, bore six children, and lived out her life in a home five miles east of Xenia. She died in 1876 and is buried in Woodland Cemetery in Xenia. The original Galloway cabin is now part of the Greene County Historical Society's complex of buildings in Xenia.

[2084] Her ancestry is from Bryant Smith Austin (skip1@netcom.com) 12/98 based on recent research by Spanish genealogists (not verified by AEM). She is said to be "of Castile." Perhaps Elvira Garces, Princess of Navarre, is the mother of Bermudo II rather than his wife; this family tree is fuzzy. Leon van de Pas' website, http://www.genealogics.org, calls her "Elvira Garcia of Castile, Regent of Leon."
