"Battle Creek Enquirer [Battle Creek, Michigan], 24 December 1940," p. 7: "Funeral services for the Rev. Bernie Harpham, Algansee township farmer and retired Free Methodist pastor, will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday from the Free Methodist church here. Burial will be in Lester cemetery. Rev. Harpham died Sunday night in his home in Algansee township after several months' illness. He was born Oct 29, 1886, in Branch county, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Harpham. and trained for the ministry at Spring Arbor seminary. He later served several pastorates, his last being the Detroit Second Church from which he resigned four years ago because of failing health. Surviving is the widow, Jennie (Luce); a daughter, Florence, and a son. Dale, both at home; and his mother, Mrs. William Ammerman of near Coldwater."
[55128] Find A Grave memorial 233954916 offers: "George Hockensmith is a son of German Immigrant Konrad Edward Hockersmith who immigrated on the ship: Snow Betsie in 1739, arriving at the Port of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. George Hockensmith's mother is not known: Stepmohter: Mary Anna Maria Chritina Hearse. George Hockensmith married Martha Buchanan in 1764 in Frederick, Frederick County, Maryland and being Lutheran in his religion assume he was married in The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick, Maryland. To this union 10 children are known: Johan Michael - Mary - Catherine - Eva - George - Nancy - Susan - Elizabeth - Samuel and Martha. George was a Revolutionary War Soldier as were two of his brothers: Johan Michael and Edward Hockensmith. George served his country in the summer of 1775, Western Maryland - 1st Lieutenant in the Flying Camp under Captain William Blair - he also served in the 3rd Battalion, Maryland. He fought in at least two battles: the Battle of Long Island - Battle of White Plains."
