[33764] This person is from the unverified OneWorldTree in Ancestry.com in 2012 which states William is son of Reginald Devereux. Ancestry.com offers: "Devereux Name Meaning - English and Irish (of Norman origin): habitational name, with the preposition d(e), for someone from Évreux in Eure, France." http://devereaux.50megs.com offers: "The family name Devereux (pronounced Deverooks) arose in Normandy, France around 980 AD. It originally was a contraction of the French "de Evreux" which became D'Evreux, and translates to "of Evreux." Evreux is a city located in the Eure, a region of Normandy, and on the road to Paris. The name was first applied to Robert, 2nd son of Richard the Fearless (4th Duke of Normandy). Robert was created the Archbishop of Rouen at a young age, which required his parents to officially marry to establish his legitimacy. Robert then gained the additional title of Comte (Earl) of Evreux. His descendants would bear the surname of D'Evreux which eventually evolved to Devereux and its later variations. The Devereux family passed to England with the Norman conquest. The elder line retained the title of Earl of Evreux for the next 100 years until the male line failed. The younger line settled on the Welsh border where its descendants remain to this day."

Sylvia was born in Mariaville on Jan. 6, 1927, to parents Emery and Nathalie (Williams) Jordan. Sylvia was never one to tiptoe through life. She was up for any adventure, her many interests included gardening, fishing, hunting, genealogy, bird watching, travel, and community activities. She loved her many friends, and enjoyed being a part of the Red Hats, Domino groups, Historical Society, and the Amherst Aurora Congregational Church. Sylvia was an educated lady, an honorable member of Phi Beta Kappa. She graduated from UMO with a double major, later earning her master's degree in Social Work from Harvard in her mid-50's. She had a long career in Social Work with the State of Maine while living in Hallowell - where her two daughters were raised. After retiring and remarrying, she moved back to her family homestead in Osborn where she grew up, making her the seventh generation of her family to live there. Sylvia leaves behind her daughters, Kathryn and her husband, Timothy Hagerty, of Pepperell, MA, and Margaret Shalhoob of Bangor; granddaughter, Emily and her husband, Joe Brittelli; and great-grandchildren, Natalie and Madeline, all of Hampden. She was predeceased by her parents and second husband, Richard Sawyer."

[49311] Flora is daughter of William M. Rockefeller (1830-1917) & Emily Jones (1833-1923; m. 11August 1857). "The Daily Item [Sunbury, PA]," 22 July 1941, p. 12: "Mrs. Flora Rice, widow of Ward Rice, 1108 N. Front street, died Sunday afternoon at 2:15 o'clock at her home from ailments incident to advanced years. She had been in ill-health since her husband's death, March 17, which broke a marital union of 50 years. She was 78 years of age on November 5. Mrs. Rice was the daughter of the Hon. William M. and Emily Jones Rockefeller, of this city. Her father, a prominent attorney who served as a judge of the county courts, was a descendant of Godfrey Rockefeller, who established the family in Northumberland county in 1789. One of Godfrey's great - grandsons was John D. Rockefeller, who went to Cleveland, where he founded the Standard Oil Company and became the world's richest man. The county branch of the family became very extensive, and its members over a period of 150 years have been active in affairs of this section. Mr. Rice first came to Sunbury as a youth, after attending the academy in his native New Bloomfield, Perry county. He engaged here in the First National Bank and then moved to the West in 1886. He returned to wed Miss Rockefeller October 2, 1889. They lived in Colorado until 1902, when they moved to Los Angeles. They returned to this city 15 years ago. Surviving Mrs. Rice are one son, Arthur W. Rice, and grandsons William W. Rice ad Robert G. Rice, of Montclair, N. J., and one sister, Mrs. Mary Ewing, of this city."
