[19998] Emma renamed herself "Emily." The information about her ancestry is from Col. E. G. Piper's papers. Her children were born in the family home on Vine Street in Orrville, OH. Her great-granddaughter, Patricia Ann, has the lapel watch with her initials engraved on it, EBP. The "Orrville Crescent" newspaper 22 August 1871 (Vol. 5, No. 31), p. 3: "The Orrville Cornet Band, accompanied by the wives of the members, were present at the residence of Mr. Charles Boydston, in East Union, on the occasion of the wedding of Mr. Jonathan Peiper and Miss Emma Boydston, on last Thursday evening. At about five o'clock the band made their appearance with their new band wagon, (and a very nice one it is,) played several pieces on our streets and started on their way to the place where the marital rites were to be administered. Arriving at an early hour they enjoyed themselves hugely, and were highly pleased with the sumptuous repast that was spread before them, and the generous treatment they received. They returned home along toward the mid' hour of night, wishing the newly married couple every happiness imaginable and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Boydston many a happy year yet before them, and many a blithesome occasion to cheer them on the downward course of life." Her grave marker, beside her husband, in Wichita, KS gives her dates and her maiden name.

"The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine]," 28 September 2023: "Brooklin - Carlton C. Gray Sr. passed away on Sept. 26, 2023, at home in Brooklin. He was born Oct. 12, 1931, in Brooksville, the first-born son of Walter C. and Margaret (Segar) Gray. The family soon moved to Brooklin, where Carlton lived nearly his entire life. He graduated from Brooklin High School in 1950 along with his younger brother Belford. Soon after high school, Carlton married Evelyn M. Ryder of Ellsworth. Together, they raised four sons. Carlton worked as a carpenter and builder, first with his father, and later with youngest son, Jerry. Carlton was active in the community, coaching Little League baseball, serving on the Brooklin Volunteer Fire Department, and was a past member of the Brooklin Oddfellow's Lodge. Carlton and Evelyn enjoyed square dancing and made many friends around eastern Maine and Canada. They also enjoyed camping with family and friends, often combining the camping trips with square dancing events. Evelyn passed in 1994 after a 13-year battle with breast cancer. Years later, Carlton reconnected with Roberta Staples Allen, a high school classmate, and they maintained a special relationship until Carlton's death. Known for his memory of Brooklin history, Carlton donated many photographs and documents to the Brooklin Keeping Society. Carlton was predeceased by his parents, wife Evelyn, brother Belford, granddaughter Lily, and grandson Christopher. Carlton is survived by his four sons, Carlton Jr. and wife Paige of Dudley, N.C., Scott, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Stuart and wife Laura of East Blue Hill, and Jerry and wife Laurie of Brooklin. Carlton is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and by dear friend, Elizabeth Hutchins. Carlton's most cherished relationships include Roberta Allen and grandson Josh Gray."
Carlton and the family have been grateful for the loving care provided by Scott and Kathy Holden, and by Susan Gray. The family also thanks the staff of Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital and of Northern Light Hospice for the compassionate and professional care they provided. Carlton especially enjoyed the compassionate care and friendship of Northern Light Hospice worker Nancy, who came nearly every day and had a special bond with Carlton.

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~celticlady/luttrell/geoffery_de_luterel.htm quotes Lyte, Sir Henry Churchill Maxwell, A History of Dunster, and of the families of Mohun & Luttrell, (London : St. Catherine Press, Ltd., 1909), Pages 76-77: "ANDREW LUTTRELL, son of Sir John and Joan, established the fortunes of his family by his marriage with Elizabeth, relict of Sir John de Vere, son of the Earl of Oxford, a lady of the most illustrious lineage. Her father, Hugh, Earl of Devon, one of the companions in arms of Edward the Third, and one of the original Knights of the Garter, was head of the noble house of Courtenay. Her mother, Margaret, was daughter of Humphrey de Bohun, Earl of Hereford and Essex, Constable of England, "the flower of knighthood and the most Christian knight of the knights of the world," by Elizabeth his wife, daughter of King Edward the First. Her eldest brother was, like her father, an original Knight of the Garter; a second brother became Archbishop of Canterbury; a third Lieutenant of Ireland, and a fourth Governor of Calais. Through her sisters, she was closely connected with the Lords Cobham and Harington.
"Lady Elizabeth Vere was a widow in 1350. On the occasion of her marriage to Andrew Luttrell, in the summer of 1359, Edward the Third gave them an annuity of 200£ for their lives, in aid of the maintenance of their social position. In 1361, Sir Andrew Luttrell and his wife went on pilgrimage to the famous shrine of Santiago de Compostella, with a retinue. of twenty-four men and women and as many horses. The lady was for some time in the service of her cousins, Edward 'the Black Prince' and the 'Fair Maid of Kent,' his wife. The annuity of 200£ was confirmed by Richard the Second in 1378, and renewed in favour of Lady Luttrell in 1381, her husband having died in the interval. In the meanwhile, Lady Luttrell had, with part of her savings bought the reversion of the manors of Feltwell in Norfolk, and Moulton, Debenham and Waldingfield in Suffolk. A charter of free warren therein was issued in her favour 1373. She also acquired the right of appointing two of the canons of the priory of Flitcham.
"The most important pecuniary transaction of this Lady Luttrell was, however, her purchase of the reversion of the castle of Dunster, the manors of Kilton, Minehead and Carhampton and the hundred of Carhampton, of five thousand marks. As she predeceased the vendor, she never obtained actual possession of this valuable property. Dying at Bermondsey on the 7th of August 1395, she was buried; by her own desire, in the Benedictine Church of St. Nicholas at Exeter. Edmund Stafford, Bishop of Exeter, in August of that year, ordered public prayers to be offered throughout his diocese for the souls of Margaret Cobham and Elizabeth Luttrell, sisters of the Archbishop of Canterbury, and, by way of encouragement, promised an indulgence of forty days to the faithful who should pray for them."
