"The Perry County Democrat [Bloomfield, Pennsylvania]," 26 June 1901, p. 3: "A quiet home wedding was solemnized in this place Wednesday evening of last week, when Rev. Ira George Briner and Miss Jessie Camilla Comp were united in the holy bonds of wedlock. The ceremony was performed by Rev. A. J. Rudisill, of Mt. Carmel, Pa., assisted by Rev. S. C. Alexander, D.D., of Millerstown, and Rev. F. T. Wheeler, of this place. None but the immediate families of the bride and groom were present. The happy couple left the same evening for Bluffton, Ohio, where they will reside. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. R. M. Alexander, of this place, and is a most charming and popular young lady. Rev. Briner is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Briner, also of this borough. He recently graduated at Wittenburg Theological Seminary, Ohio, and accepted a call to the pastorate of tte Lutheran church at Bluffton, Ohio. He is an able young divine."
Jessie is age 2 in the 1880 census, and daughter of William Francis Comp, shoemaker, age 28, Spring Twp., Perry Co., PA, and wife Laura, age 26. Also in the family are Maud (5) and Carrie (3). "The Perry County Democrat [Bloomfield, PA], 13 December 1939," p. 3: "Mrs. Jessie Briner, 63, died Thursday morning at the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Ritter, in Newport, after bemg ill for more than two years of a complication. Deceased was a daughter of William and Laura (Sheibley) Comp and was born in Spring township. She was the wife of Rev. Ira Briner, who survives with their son, Luther Briner, of Steelton; also surviving is her sister, Carrie, Mrs. C. L. Darlington, of Bloomfield. After the death of her father her mother married Dr. R. M. Alexander, deceased, late of this place, and Mrs. Briner is well remembered here as a strikingly pretty girl. Private funeral services were held Saturday at the Ritter home with interment in Bloomfield cemetery, Rev. W. D. Mehrling of the Reformed church officiated."
