[5099] William was Sheriff of four counties. dispossessed of the castle of Worcester by King Stephen, to which, and all his other honours and estates, however, he was restored by King Henry II; and in that monarch's reign, besides the sheriffalty of Worcestershire, which he enjoyed by inheritance, he was sheriff of Warwickshire (2nd Henry II), sheriff of Gloucestershire (from 3rd to the 9th Henry II), sheriff of Herefordshire (from the 8th to the 16th Henry II, 1167-70, inclusive). Upon the levy of the assessment towards the marriage portion of one of King Henry's daughters., this powerful feudal lord certified his knight's fees to amount to fifteen. He married Maud, daughter of William Lord Braose, of Gower, and was suceeded at his death by his son, William de Beauchamp " Cf. http://www.geneajourney.com/bchmp1.html.

[16418] Information about this family is not verified and is as given by June Parr, R. R. 2 - Box 41, Heyworth, IL (2/95). A Dressler genealogy site on the Internet is found in January, 2000 at http://genforum.genealogy.com/dressler. An unverified posting in One World Tree on Ancestry.com in 2006 states that Johann Jacob is son of Hans Michael Dressler (b. in Aug 1646 in Neckartenzlinger, Wurttemberg, d. 8 Jan 1730 in Massenbach, Wurttemberg) and his wife Anna Catherine Mueller (b. in July 1648 in Germany, d. 13 Sept 1712 in Massenbach, m. 18 Nov 1673 in Massenback); and offers that Hans Michael Dressler is son of Jochin Dressler (b. 1608, d. 16 Oct 1672 in Massenbach) and Ursula Dorothea _____ (d. 14 Oct 1678 in Massenbach). Ancestry.com offers: "Dressler Name Meaning - German and Jewish (Ashkenazic): occupational name for a turner, from Middle High German dreseler or dræselære (formed by the addition of a superfluous agent suffix to Old High German drasil turner, a primary derivative of draen turn, spin). A turner would make small objects not just from wood, but also from bone, ivory, and amber, all of which were widely used in the Middle Ages for their decorative value."
