He married Maria Magdalena Noecker on June 21, 1808, in Berks, Pennsylvania. They had one [known] child during their marriage. He died on June 21, 1844, in Mohrsville, Pennsylvania, at the age of 59. Maria Magdalena Noecker was born on November 9, 1786, in Upper Bern, Pennsylvania. . . . She died on March 9, 1844, in Mohrsville, Pennsylvania, at the age of 57." He settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania before moving to Somerset Co., PA. He was in York County at the time of John's birth. A Patriot of the American Revolution for Pennsylvania with the rank of Private."
