Gertrude was born on February 12, 1916 in Altamont, Kansas to Wilbert and Minne (Grey) Bryner. She grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas where she received her high school education. On February 12, 1936 she was united in marriage to Dean Oakley Bowersox in Coffeyville, Kansas. Of that union two children were born. The couple later divorced. Gertrude held various jobs throughout the years. She worked at Rok-A-Chair, and worked at her sister Mary's restaurant, Brownie's Grill. She later was a care taker for Mary whom she was very close to. Gertrude was always very devoted to Mary's extended family. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school and was active in the Methodist Women's Group. Surviving to honor her memory are her children, Darrell Bowersox and wife, Annie of Baldwin City, Kansas, Dennis Bowersox and wife, Winnie of North Andover, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Abigail, Andrew, Kimberly and Karl, two great-grandchildren Anna Bell and Oakley, she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Minne; brothers, Ralph and Harold; sisters, Irene, Alice and Mary."
