Al graduated at Juniata College, taught at Tressler Orpahn's Home where he had been raised, then taught history at the Carson Long Institute at New Bloomfield, and then taught at West Perry High School, and finally at Shippensburg State College where he retired. Ancestry.com offers: "Ramer Name Meaning - German: occupational name, perhaps for a dairy farmer, from Middle High German rom cream, or for a frame or loom-maker, from Middle High German ram(e) frame, loom. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bryan and was a Life member of Bryan American Legion Post 284. Richard R. Sanders was born on January 5, 1927, in Butler, Indiana, the son of Lawrence Ralph and Edith (Harry) Sanders. He married Norma E. Shearer on February 7, 1948, in Bryan, and she survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Thomas Sanders of Bryan, and Steven (Cheryl) Sanders of Jacksonville, Florida; one daughter, Nancy (Samuel) Baker of Holgate, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jason, Jamie and Adam Sanders; three stepgrandchildren, Stephanie, Sarah and Steven Wicks; and four great-grandchildren, Jenna, Spencer and Ellianna Sanders and Gage Ridenour.
