"The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 30 September 1961, p. 17: "Castine - Ray Harland Wardwell, 84, died in a Bangor hospital Friday following a brief illness. He was born at Penobscot February 21, 1877, the son of Fred and Emma (Perkins) Wardwell. Mr. Wardwell was a member of Castine Grange and the Castine Federated Church.
