[54221] " Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram", 22 March 2011: "Portland -- Emma Yuill Storey, 81, of Portland, died on Friday, March 18, 2011, at Maine Medical Center with her family at her side. Emma was born on May 27, 1929, in Springvale, the daughter of Joseph S. and Meta (Miller) Yuill. She was educated in Sanford schools and graduated from Sanford High School, Class of 1947. She then went to Fisher College in Boston, graduated with the Class of 1949, and then worked in Minneapolis, Minn., for a short period of time. Upon returning to Sanford, Emma was employed by Goodall-Sanford Mills as Executive Secretary to the Vice President of Manufacturing and later held the same position for F. Emma then moved to Portland, where she met Jess Storey whom she married in 1955. The Storey's built The Senator Motel in Augusta. She was the Interior Decorator and Bookkeeper. After selling The Senator in 1961, the Storey's moved to Raymond. They purchased hotels in the Portland and South Portland areas and Mrs. Storey always kept her finger in the pie. Mrs. Storey was also employed by L.L. Bean in later years, retiring in 1992. Mrs. Storey was an active volunteer at Maine Medical Center from 1966-1983, serving on the Women's Board and Treasurer of the gift shop. She was a former member of The National Secretaries Club and an honorary member of the Greater Portland Women of Rotary, serving as President in 1965. She was a member of the Raymond Village Church and Friends of Maine Medical Center. Mrs. Storey's husband died in 1984; and her sister, Georgette Carpenter died in 1993. Her companion of many years, Robert E. Elliot Sr. died in 1995. She enjoyed golf, music, travel and animals. She is survived by her niece, Gayle S. Sonstrom and her husband Don, and their daughters, Jennifer Sonstrom and Kristine Sonstrom, all of Coventry, Conn.; and her three step-children, Joan Sharon Shemwell (deceased) of Grand Rapides, Mich., Patrick Storey and Vikki O'Connor of Brewer. She also leaves behind many close friends and was loved by all."
