[49096] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 2 August 1962, p. 16: "North Sullivan - Ernest Edward Haskell, 69, of North Sullivan died suddenly of a heart attack Wednesday at about 4:45 p.m. while riding in a car driven by his sister on Route 1-A in Ellsworth, according to local authorities. Mr. Haskell retired from the Brewer school system in June. He had been a teacher there for 46 years and had headed the English Department for 17 years. He was born at Sullivan, October 28, 1892. He attended Sullivan High School and was graduated from the University of Maine where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He had taught at Morrill, Long Pond and North Anson, where he also served as principal. He had been active m professional and community organizations. He was president of the Somerset County Teachers Association, master of North Anson Masonic Lodge and served as moderator of the North Anson Congregational Church. He was president of the Maine Fish and Game Association in 1935 and also served as President of the Maine Rifle and Pistol Association. He contributed several articles to the American Rifleman. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Annie (Paul) Haskell, two children, Ernest E. Jr. of Gardiner and Miss Mary Haskell of Brewer."
