[6015] See "Brackett Genealogy, Descendants of Anthony Brackett of Portsmouth and Captain Richard Brackett of Braintree. With Biographies of the Immigrant Fathers, Their Sons, and Others of Their Posterity," Herbert Ierson Brackett (1907). Chapter V. Anthony (Jr.) was at Falmouth (now Portland) in 1660, selectman in 1680, assemblyman in 1681 and 1682. He m. (1) Anne Mitton (d. Sandy Beach, NH ca. 1677) and (2) Susannah Drake 19 Nov 1678 (she d. Nov 1719). "History of Portland," by William Willis (1833), includes an account of him and family escaping from the Indians in a stolen birch bark canoe which had been mended by his wife, Ann Mitten. "King Philip's War," Eric C. Schultz and Michael J. Tougias (Woodstock, VT: The Countryman Press, 1999), p. 304 offers: "On August 11,1676 . . . the home of Anthony Brackett on the west side of the Back Cove was assaulted, with Brackett, his wife, and five children carried into captivity. . . . Brackett's home was located on Cleve's Nek, now the downtown area of Portland." Family Tree Maker's "Early New England Settlers" (CD #504) reports "He was lieutenant and captain in the war, and was finally killed at his house 21 Sep. 1689. His son Anthony was also lieutenant and captain in Indian hostilities." Also see "The Narragansett Sun," "The History of Westbrook, Chapter XIV" (Portland, ME: 7 Nov 1895), available on-line at http://www.westbrookhistoricalsociety.org/collections.html, and "New England Captives Carried to Canada...," Emma Lewis Coleman (Boston: New England Historic Genealogical Society, 2012), pp. 200, 210ff.

[29840] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederick_Christian_II,_Duke_of_Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg offers: "In 1786 the 20-year-old hereditary prince however married his distant cousin, the 14-year-old Louise Auguste of Denmark and Norway (1771-1843), daughter of the late Queen Caroline Mathilde of Denmark. Louise Auguste was born during queen's marriage with the insane king Christian VII of Denmark and Norway, but unofficially it was widely known that her natural father was Johann Friedrich Struensee, the kings court physician and de facto regent of the country at the time of her birth. (She was referred to sometimes as 'la petite Struensee'.)"

Crinan or Grimus (Crínán MacDonachadh) is also known as Albanach. He was Lay Abbot of Dunkeld and Governor of the Hebrides Islands of Scotland. His parents are not known, but he appears to be of Viking ancestry. Sir Anthony R. Wagner, Garter King of Arms ("English Ancestry," Oxford Un. Press, 1961, p.16) states: "Though there is no genealogy of Crinan's ancestors, his hereditary abbacy of Dunkeld makes it likely that he was of the blood of St. Columba (d. 597), the apostle of Scotland, who was a great-grandson of the Irish high king Niall of the Nine Hostages." "The Plantagenet Ancestry," W. H. Turton (Balt.: Gen. Pub. Co., 1968) gives Crinan's parents as Duncan and ____ "of the Isles." Le Bateman (LeBateman@NetZero.Net) offered via email 7/2001: "Maldred mac Crinan or Grimus had son named Maldred also. The ancestry for Uhtred is in Henry B. Woolf's "Old Germanic Principles of Name Giving," and the Neville ancestry is in Volume IX of The Complete Peerage by George E. Cokayne. Maldred would be listed in both. Also check Frederick Lewis Weis's Ancestral Roots 7th Ed. 1997. p. 247." In 2003 http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cousin/html/d0005/g0000512.html#I5117 states (unverified) that Crinan is son of Donnchad MacDonachadh (b. ca. 949), who is son of Donnchad MacDonachadh (b. ca. 925, d. ca. 965), who is son of Duncan of Dule. Cf. "Medieval English Ancestors of Certain Americans," Carl Boyer III (Santa Clarita, CA, 2001), p. 187, and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crínán_of_Dunkeld.
