She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Crull and was born and reared in Kennedy's Valley. She was married to Daniel Garlin in 1858 and lived in Kennedy's Valley until about 34 years ago when she removed to Landisburg, some time after Mr. Garlin's death. Mr. Garlin, who was a Civil War veteran, enlisted in 1862 serving until the close of the war in 1865, was a member of the regiment, the Pennsylvania Bucktails and fought in twenty-two battles among which were those of Antietum and Bull Run. His death occurred on Thanksgiving Day, 1881. To them were born the following children, Minnie A., Mrs. C. R. Morrison, of Landisburg; Rebecca Jane, Mrs. Joseph Warner, of Carlisle; Bessie, Mrs. Brady Warner, of Cumberland county; Mrs. Nancy Hackett, of Lewistown, whose husband was killed while employed at the works in Burnham; Wm. Garlin; of Alinda; Sadie, Mrs. Alfred Miller, of Shermans Dale, who with their mother survive. There are two of their children dead: Thomas Garlin, of Kennedy's Valley, and Annie Garlin. Mrs. Garlin had 140 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was the last member of her family. She was a member of the Landisburg Church of God, a wife and a mother faithful to her home, family and church, one whose life was one of Christian fortitude, kind to those with whom she came in contact and a mother and neighbor who will be much missed."
