He was born May 29, 1928, in Stonington to Keith and Annie (Davis) Eaton. Neville graduated from McKinley High School in Deer Isle, Class of 1946, as valedictorian. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952, owned and operated NevilleÂ’s Service Station in Deer Isle for many years, and was manager and assistant vice president at Union Trust Company in Stonington for 20 years. Neville was a ham radio enthusiast for many years, getting his license W1RPC in 1948; talking to people all over the world. He was a school board member, lifetime member of Marine Lodge 122, and a member of the Memorial Ambulance Corps for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, fishing, and gardening. Traveling around the United States, Canada and the Caribbean Islands was something he enjoyed; his favorites being the Hawaiian Islands and Aruba. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Marjorie (Haskell) of Deer Isle and his spoiled cat Missy; three children, Sally and husband, Mark (Bo) Galloway, of New Hampshire, Betty Eaton and her partner, James (Peewee) Bubar, of Franklin, and Gary Eaton and his wife, Linda, of Lamoine; four very special grandchildren, Rebecca (Becca) and husband, Josh Jordan, Sarah Anderson and boyfriend, Codie Abbott, Kristy Eaton, and Keith Eaton; one very special great grandchild, GrandpaÂ’s chatterbox, Adalyn Jordan. He is also survived by his sister Rosamond Sewall; nephew David Sewall, niece Valerie and husband, Peter Duncan, and several cousins."

He was married to Miss Lizzie Lang in 1861 to which union ten children were born. Mrs. Plate died Aug 30 1884. On February 1885, he married Mrs. Mary (Helig) Smith, at Pittsburgh, Pa. to whom two sons were born. The family came to Illinois in 1877, locating in Pleasant Township where ever since he has resided. A devoted wife and the following children survive: William, Henry, Edward, Charles, George, Mrs. Phenie Hay, Anna Heisler, Lena Bucy, Lizzie Cook and one step daughter, Mrs. George Myers. He died at his residence Wednesday, Aug. 4, 1909 aged 71 yrs, 11 months, 1 day. The remains were taken to the Ipava cemetery where they were laid to rest."
