"Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine], 19 November 2021": "Nina Mae Bridges, 91, passed away peacefully November 18, 2021, hand in hand with her son and Elvis Presley songs playing, at Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital. She was born April 1, 1930, in Lubec, the daughter of the late Corbett and Sarah (Mitchell) Huckins.
Nina attended school in Lubec until she began working at a young age. Through her years she worked hard as a nanny, sardine factory worker and as a cook for 30 years at Lubec Consolidated School before retiring in 1996. She is survived by her son, Michael "Mike" Bridges and wife, Michelle, of Whiting; her daughter, Donna Bridges-Mills of Lubec; her granddaughter, Toni Bridges of East Machais; her granddaughter, Dr. Kayleigh Bridges and her husband, Eric Merrill, of Old Town; her grandson, Chris Bridges of Alabama; her grandson, Travis Mills of Canada; her granddaughter, Courtney Mills of California; her grandson, Justin North of Massachusetts; her grandsons, Evan and Andrew Bridges of Campobello; as well as many other great-grandchildren, family and friends. She was predeceased by her son, Richard Bridges and wife, Deb; two brothers, Carrol and Joe Huckins; and a sister, Irene Huckins. Nina survived The Gardner Lake Tragedy on June 19, 1936, where she witnessed 12 of her classmates drown. This tragedy haunted her, her whole life. Nina loved spending time with her family and especially with her grandchildren. She loved watching TV, drinking tea and eating sweets. She loved watching and feeding birds and had many as pets over the years. She loved owls. She loved dogs later in life. She loved plants and flowers. She was a huge Elvis Presley fan and enjoyed listening to music."

[9642] Charles emigrated to IL about 1887 and farmed near Sparland, then in Saratoga Twp. until his retirement about 1925 when they moved to Milo. "The Perry County Democrat [New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania], 16 December 1942," p. 3: "Charles L. Thumma, whose home in his youth was at Loysville, died at his late residence in Milo township, Bureau county, Illinois, on the 21st of November, 1942, at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 24 days. The deceased was a son of John and Julia Ann (Briner) Thumma and was born in Loysville June 28, 1859. He went to Illinois about fifty-five years ago and together with his brother, Samuel, took up farming. He was united in marriage to Myrtle Aletta Van Ostrand in Henry, Ill., on December 20, 1892. They lived on a farm near Sparland for about six years, then moved to Saratoga township where they resided until they retired from farming about seventeen years ago, when they moved to Milo. Mr. and Mrs. Thumma were the parents of four children, Glenn, of Milo; John Harold, of Whitefish, Mont.; Anna Marie (Mrs. Marie Max), Peoria, and Ariel Mabelle, of Peoria, who with the widow and ten grandchildren, survive. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Anna Doyle, of Henry. A brother, Samuel, preceded him in death. Mr. Thumma was of a quiet disposition, a kind father and a true neighbor. He loved to read and always kept abreast of the times by his daily papers and radio news broadcasts. Mr. Thumma was a member of the Saratoga Methodist Church, where services were held Tuesday, November 24, with the Rev. Cobb, of Bradford, officiating."
